Sometimes the intimacy in dance is what you chase, sometimes it’s the big overwhelming tide.
Recently with Quicksilver, we’ve been working toward a flashmob performance: a spontaneous eruption of dance in both Westfield shopping centres in London. The 18th of May was our big performances. It signalled the beginning of the journey of the Olympic torch and celebrates the Big Dance 2012 festival.
This experience was exciting rather than choreographically challenging. It’s good to be reminded how it can feel to dance and be directly engage the community. These performances brought together over 200 dancers with a diverse range of ages. Everyone from cheerleaders, flamenco dancers, hip hop, and contemporary dancers were involved.
Take a look at our 2 minute teaser… the longer version should be out in the next few weeks!
